Hey folks,

I wanted to share this part of an ongoing avenue of my practice to develop “stand alone” solo playing of both standards and free tunes. This one is actually All the Things You Are with an extended variation on the traditional intro. The goal of course is for it to make compositional sense and not be boring. I liked it OK but as the title suggests, my reed sucked and I decided to just deal with it rather than searching for a new one.

I’m sure you all know of other recordings in this vein. My favorite in the standard tune arena is actually Tom Harrell’s version of Joy Spring. Reply to me with others that you know.
